Questions
Who is it for? QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials and Plus users. Intuit’s help suggests manual or recurring journal entries for prepaid expenses and depreciation on those plans. QuickBooks Online Advanced has fixed-asset depreciation and revenue recognition built in, so Advanced users may not need Periodline.
What file do I need? Periodline’s own template (CSV or Excel), one row per bill, invoice or asset: type (prepaid, deferred revenue, accrued or fixed asset), reference, amount, start and end dates (or useful life in months), the income statement account and the balance sheet account. Paste it or upload it. Month-first dates (MM/DD/YYYY) are the default.
How is each line spread? Straight line. Daily spreads by days in each month. Equal monthly gives each month the same amount (a part month counts as a full month if it covers at least half of it). Monthly by days gives full months equal amounts and part months a share by days. Fixed assets depreciate (cost minus salvage value) equally each month from the in-service month; the disposal month gets none. Amounts are worked in cents and any rounding goes to the last month.
What goes into QuickBooks? A journal entry import CSV with the columns Intuit’s help article lists (Journal No., Journal Date, Account Name, Journal/Description, Debits, Credits, plus Name, Location or Class only if you use them), one journal entry per month-end dated the last day of the month (MM/DD/YYYY). Every entry must balance or Periodline refuses to make the file. Entries are in your home currency; a line in another currency needs its home-currency amount. You import it with Settings › Import data › Journal entries.
How does it stop double posting? Each run makes a posting record of the months posted per line. Mark the run as imported and Periodline saves the record with the company; next month it posts only the months not posted yet. If the lines no longer match the record, it asks you to confirm first.
Is it connected to QuickBooks? No. Periodline is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Intuit. You import the file into QuickBooks Online yourself.
How do I cancel? Use the link in your Paddle receipt email, or email us and we will cancel for you. See Terms.
